In Germany still development is going on regarding the amateur pager network. At Aachen University (RWTH) a new concept has been worked out, named DAPNET: Decentralized Amateur Paging Network. Because the Linux based ‘FunkrufMaster’ is already in service for a very long time and the energy hungry Ericsson Compact 9000 can be replaced by more efficient equipment, the german pager network gets a complete makeover.
